Phnom Penh: Foreign Affairs Minister, Prak Sokhonn, will participate in three ASEAN-related meetings virtually on Monday. He will join the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 24th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council meeting and the 30th ASEAN Coordinating Council meeting. All are being hosted by current ASEAN chair, Brunei Darussalam.

According to a media press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the meetings, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will discuss preparations for the upcoming 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, ASEAN 2021 priorities and key deliverables, as well as ASEAN’s key initiatives on the pandemic response, a review of the implementation of the ASEAN Community Blueprints and a follow-up on the update of the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar, particularly on the provision of ASEAN’s humanitarian assistance to the country.

The Ministers will also discuss ways and means to further engage with external dialogue partners through ASEAN-led mechanisms and on upholding ASEAN Centrality. Regional and international issues of common interest and concern will also be raised. This round of meetings will be one of the last which Cambodia will attend as an ordinary member of ASEAN before it assumes the chairmanship of the regional body in 2022. One of its first events as host will be the ASEM13 Summit, to be held virtually from 25-26 November.
